Facelift

A facelift, also called a rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic surgery that smooths out wrinkles and fine lines by removing sagging skin from the face and neck.

Excess skin is removed, the underlying muscles and tissues are tightened, and the skin is lifted to achieve this result. The facelift is a popular choice for facial rejuvenation because it produces noticeable results that last for a long time.

Methods for Facelift

The three most common types of facelifts are described below.

  1. Circular Facelift

A circular facelift can reverse the effects of aging on the upper, middle, and lower regions of the face. This level of extensive cosmetic surgery is best reserved for patients with severe wrinkles and general skin laxity.

  1. Mini Facelift

The mini facelift, or short-scar facelift, is typically reserved for younger patients due to its effectiveness in combating the first signs of aging and mild skin sagging. Incisions in strategic places like the hairline and skin folds keep scarring to a minimum. When using this method, wounds will heal without scarring. In addition, sedatives are typically adequate, and general anesthesia is unnecessary.

  1. SMAS Facelift

This cutting-edge method is used for investigating the more profound, age-related changes. In addition to smoothing out fine lines and eliminating sagging skin, the SMAS facelift can also fix any issues with the facial muscles. This makes for a more refined and lasting impact.

Consultation for Facelift

In the initial consultation, your consultant will examine your face and neck and ask questions about your priorities. They will explain the various facelift surgeries and may recommend complementary procedures such as a brow lift, cheek or chin implant, or liposuction.

You should be ready to discuss your medical history, including any current conditions and previous surgeries you may have undergone, especially those involving your face, head, or neck.

Preparing for a Facelift: What to Expect?

At TGS Surgeons (Top Global Surgeons), a facelift usually takes about 2 hours of surgery. However, if you want a brow lift or other procedures done simultaneously, this can take longer. Eliminating excess skin, tightening the underlying muscle, and then repositioning the skin over the tightened and reshaped facial framework is the overarching goal of a facelift.

To reduce the appearance of scarring, epidermis stitches are typically placed in the hairline and the crease of the earlobe.

Right after surgery, a drain is typically inserted into the wound to help drain any remaining fluid. This drain pipe will remain in place until you are good to go home by the next morning
